Expand and Strengthen Advanced Manufacturing Industry: China's First Set of Internationally Certified LNG Marine Bunkering Hoses Delivered

At the Xiamen Science City Future Industry Park (Advanced Manufacturing Park), the LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) hoses developed and manufactured by Xiamen Sonda Fluid Equipment Research Co.,Ltd. were successfully delivered to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). These hoses will be utilized on the "Offshore Oil 302" LNG refueling ship to perform the critical task of offshore refueling. According to the provided information, in practical applications, the temperature of liquefied natural gas can reach as low as -163 degrees Celsius, while the hoses must also endure complex operational conditions such as ship movement. This necessitates that the hoses exhibit multiple key characteristics, including resistance to low temperatures, high sealing integrity, and bending resistance. The development process was highly challenging, and previously, only two international companies had products certified to international marine standards.With a focus on the localization of marine equipment, Sonda has continuously innovated in the areas of material research and development as well as testing platforms. Their efforts enabled the product to successfully pass rigorous tests, including endurance at -196 degrees Celsius and 800,000 bending cycles, thereby overcoming the barriers posed by foreign technology. This achievement marks the first domestically produced LNG marine refueling hose to receive dual certification from both European standards and the China Classification Society.
Chen Mo, Technical Director of Sonda, stated: "The selection and verification of low-temperature materials were particularly challenging due to the scarcity of cryogenic testing facilities in China. We independently developed a testing platform for LNG hoses, which encompassed testing and adjustments. Furthermore, we engaged the Xiamen branch of the China Classification Society to participate, resulting in multiple enhancements to the design and manufacturing processes. Consequently, the performance of the hose has attained international advanced levels."
